Navy's New Gender-Neutral Carriers Won't Have Urinals
A couple decades after the U.S. Navy started deploying women on its ships, the restroom designs of the newest aircraft carriers are reflecting the females' presence.
The new Gerald R. Ford class of carriers - starting with the namesake carrier due in late 2015 - will not have urinals, the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington said this week.
The decision is part of an effort to give the new carriers a more gender-neutral layout, according to the Navy Times, which first reported the story. Using only toilets, a first for U.S. carriers, will allow ship personnel to easily switch the designation of any restroom – or head, in naval parlance – from men to women and vice versa as needed,

The Wit and Wisdom of Cameron Phelan
A person that can make a great martini is a person that I can trust with my life
The best way to know and understand someone that's different from you is to jump right into their world.
The mid-20's is by far the hardest time of your life. It's a time where you\'re discovering who you really are. It's a time where you start to see who you'll really be for the rest of your life. It\s a time where you make less money than someone older than you and yet you both do the same job. The only reason that older person makes more money is because they supposedly have "experience".

What does this have to do with TCU sports again?
Our sports teams, such as the football team. occasionally compete against Navy. Also, if TCU took this approach, its locker rooms and other facilities could be gender-neutral, which most likely would save the athletic department a few bucks.

Oh well, I am sure none of the men will piss on the seat in protest.

Don't they have sinks? The best thing Sailors are glad about is they don't have to get dressed when they wake up in the middle of the night to pee. Most use water bottles to pee in to avoid hassel of having to get dressed. However, females still flush their damn tampons down the toilet and clog the pipes and then the head is secured. If you have to pee, you have to go find a toilet on the other end of the ship

That would get you a beating and "accidently" thrown off the side.

I just hope the new stadium has a trough urinal like the old one.
The trough urinal was fine, but when things got really crowded, you sometimes bumped heads.

Yeah, you didn't have to share 8 sinks, toilets, urinals with 200 people

US navy getting so damned PC, now they can longer fire "broadsides"!
It totally is. I'm waiting for the mandatory sensativity training that will probably be coming soon. Time to retire

I'll defer to Quilter's opinion on this.
OMG, I'm crying from laughing! When I was in OCS we just put potted plants in the urinals in our head. Kinda festive! I was one of the first women assigned to a carrier and I don't even remember the urinals in our designated head - it just didn't matter. It would seem to me that they could have designated female heads in the design of the new carrier and left the urinals out of those particular ones. If they had to shift usage, then the personnel would adapt. Really not a big deal.
But thanks for the laugh - I needed it!
