Not TCU related, but TigerFrog sent me this Youtube link about the greatest softball pitcher ever. I saw one of his shows in the '60s (and they were shows, not really games, just like the Harlem Globetrotters). So you kids can appreciate what you missed in the days of barnstorming sports attractions.

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion- When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing- when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors- when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you- when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice- you may know that your society is doomed." -- Ayn Rand

Saw this guy once when I was a kid in the 60's. Most batters couldn't touch him,as evidenced by the video.
Doubt 4 guys could travel together like that now for long periods of time w/o ego issues coming between them.

My grandfather told me that he played against this team once in an exhibition.  He said he threw incredibly hard and all the motion was very deceiving.  He told me he homered off of him in his first at bat but then never touched another ball.  Said another guy on his team hit a long fly ball that the SS tracked down in center field.  Said the guys were very impressive ball players and pretty good guys.  I'm guessing that was mid to late 50's.

We're screwed, but maybe he'll make the trains run on time.
