Absurd that they treat guys like NOrquist as near=gods? I totally agree.
Maybe I'm confused.  Who's "they"?  You do know Norquist is the founder of the Reagan Legacy Project, right?  And you're certainly aware that Reagan himself asked Norquist to start Americans for Tax Reform, no?

And if it is indeed fact that the GOP is full of radicals, how come Mitt Romney beat the crap out of the rest of the Republican field to decisively win the 2012 nomination - four years after those far-right radicals nominated....John freaking McCain?  If you'd like to lay out an ideological case for why Mitt Romney's policies (or McCain's) are far to the right of Reagan, please do.

...  I also think that conservatives have been far too lax and distracted with their own lives to worry about the growing issues we've obviously been facing for the last decade, especially the election in 2008.  I think conservatives have allowed the culture, especially through popular culture, to be coarsened and influenced by the far left without any push-back for far too long and that their negligence has created a permanent underclass that we may never be able to recover and make productive citizens...

So they were wrong in that they allowed themselves to be victims of the left!!!???  Wowsers!

Oh, conservatives haven't been victimized by the left--society has been victimized by the left.  Conservatives were just too naive to believe that the social rot could advance as quickly as it has.

Just out of curiosity, can you give me an example of a negative event caused by humans in the USA which is NOT the fault of the "far left"?

Sure--I think the regulatory environment and deficits (both results of run-away big government) can be blamed on both parties.  I also think that conservatives have been far too lax and distracted with their own lives to worry about the growing issues we've obviously been facing for the last decade, especially the election in 2008.  I think conservatives have allowed the culture, especially through popular culture, to be coarsened and influenced by the far left without any push-back for far too long and that their negligence has created a permanent underclass that we may never be able to recover and make productive citizens.

What the left has achieved has been due to conservatives' negligence and cowardice to confront the left's political correctness.  But I think things are moving in the right direction now.

I feel like that response is some sort of corollary to Uni's fake apology thread ... the only thing my team has done wrong is not have done more about your team's suckiness ...

Yes, it is a relative of the fake apology.  A closer relative is the trying to disguise your strengths as weaknesses -- I work too hard, care too much, tend to get a little to focused on the task at hand, sometimes neglect myself because I'm so concerned about others, etc...

Along this vein, did you notice that Anthony Watts is apologizing for Heartland Institute's latest billboard campaign by saying they are suffering from "battle fatigue"--I guess apparently in response to all that explosive, stressful, peer-reviewed research they have been forced to endure?

WaPo...

“I think Heartland is suffering battle fatigue,” said Watts, who runs a popular climate-skeptic Web site and who considers himself an ally of Heartland. “When you’re suffering battle fatigue, sometimes you make mistakes.”

Rather more than an ally, I should think: He receives direct funding from Heartland.

In further news, apparently a lot of property insurers who have provided significant funding to Heartland have left/are leaving Heartland as their interests strongly diverge as warming increases and this escapade brought things to a head. That includes a Heartland VP for those particular operations.

What "far left lunacy" posted here are you referring to?  Be specific.
