With all due respect to everyone involved in creating ther frog horn and maintaining it, am I the only one on this board that thinks Argyle is a little tacky?
Yes, yes you are the only one.

It needs to be back in it's rightful location.
Why was it moved in the first place?
A famous football coach and his wife were talking...
Wife: You love football more than me.
Football coach: You're right, wife, but I love you more than baseball and basketball.

Why was it moved in the first place?
They said last year it was because of construction.
Now they are keeping it behind a wall. So now its just some horn going off in the distance. So much for that tradition.
I honestly believe they are trying to kill off the Frog Horn because people in the EZ suites complained about it being "too loud".

Doubt it has anything to do with the people in the suites. I think there are some folks in Marketing who just don't like the way it looks. Doesn't fit their conception of "TCU image."
I sometimes worry that Athletics Marketing is trying to homogenize TCU too much. Eliminate all our distinctives and make us just like everybody else. Occasionally suspect they'd change the Horned Frog mascot if they could get away with it. Something lame and generic like "Knights" or "Hawks" or "Timberwolves."

These Frogs have horns!

Doesn't fit the TCU Image? Its a giant mechanical Horned Frog that flashes "TCU" on the sides...
I honestly hope we aren't going down the road of being like "everyone else."

Leave the Frog Horn on the field, in the SW corner, where it belongs. Anywhere else is wrong, and stupid. It's what KFC wants!
Make it so.
GIT 'EM FROGGIES!

With all due respect to everyone involved in creating the frog horn and maintaining it, am I the only one on this board that thinks it's a little tacky? i remember every HS football game I played in, every team had some kind of horn... when TCU scores and I hear it, that's what I'm reminded of... when TCU was playing in a stadium with 20k people in it and couldn't make a ton of noise, the frog horn helped add to the excitement and filled the noise void.. well, we're going to have 40k plus moving forward, its just not needed anymore.
we're big time now.. name one school that has some kind of train horn when they score, cuz I can't think of any... cannon's are fine (UT, etc).. i do think that's what the program and department are trying to eventually do
Cannon's are dumb. You said it yourself, thats what UT does. Why do we want to be like UT. That FH is the best thing about the game (besides what goes on the field). Obviously we can still get donations, and people will still buy those seats, so, don't ruin a great thing.
And on the point about HS games having a horn, It is a horiable excuse for a horn. When I hear a train tho, I know the pain is sure to follow. If they are moving it off of field level, it needs to be on the front row next to the band in the SE corner. The students don't need that many seats, and it will defin the band so they cannot hear themselfs, so they will play louder (not true, but, good concept)

He FH was at the Sun Bowl, and likely every bowl since we began our run. It's part of who we are. We are the ONLY Horned Frogs in the land, and we are the ONLY school with anything remotely like it. Auburn has it's War Eagle, Colorado has Buffy, Tech has bells...many schools have unique traditions, and the Frog Horn is ours. It's been featured in news broadcasts, parades, and video games. That horn is a part of who we are, and I look forward to hearing it sound off in the Big 12.
Please send that to CDC, but express that it needs to be seen on the field, not hidden behind a wall.

Honestly, it makes me embarrassed. Paint it solid purple and put it behind a wall somewhere. I mean, look at this picture. Never mind the poser cowboys standing around, that smile is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Why am I not surprised that those fighting for the FrogHorn are the same posters throwing a fit over the logo frog? If you like the looks of this thing, then I just don't know what to tell you.

Second, I'm pro-Frog Horn for all of the reasons mentioned above. It's a unique tradition and I think we should keep it, and I actually like that it's more accessable to fans off the field because the kids can look at it, etc.
But let's not kid ourselves the thing really is tacky. Imagine if it wasn't a current tradition and there was a press release with a picture of the frog horn on it saying something like "The brand new 'Frog Horn' will be sounded during touchdowns!" We would shred it, like some of us shredded the new logo.

You know, it is all about your embarrassment level as far as cool traditions are concerned. What else isn't cool Vlade? Please tell us so we can make sure we conform with the rest of the world!!!
