Orlando Sun-Sentinel: Seminoles have no answer for TCU standout pitcher
By Shandel Richardson, Sun Sentinel
OMAHA, Neb., The Florida State hitters are probably wishing TCU freshman pitcher Matt Purke had a lower asking price.
If so, he would have been somewhere in the minor leagues and not on the mound Saturday at Rosenblatt Stadium.
Purke, who turned down $4 million from the Texas Rangers last year, showed why his arm is likely worth more. He allowed four hits and struck out seven in TCU's 8-1 victory in the opening game of the College World Series.
"We didn't help ourselves a lot," FSU center fielder Tyler Holt said. ...

This is the problem with the "rush, rush, rush" to try and get something first on the Net.
Are there editors at this paper?
Purke struck the next three hitters to end the inning. The Horned Frogs (52-12) then scored five runs in the bottom half off pitcher Sean Gilmartin.
I think he meant "struck out." Striking the batters would have put 3 more men on base and another run would have been forced in. Also, hitters should be replaced with the word "batters." They are only hitters if the hit their way on base.
Left fielder Jason Coats, who when 2 of 3 with three RBI, put TCU ahead 2-1 with a double.
Editors? Anyone?

FSU Center Fielder Holt: "I think it's a totally different ball game if we're more patient and not swinging at that stuff that's in the dirt. I think we helped him along the way, but that's what happens when [pitchers] have good stuff. It looks like it's in the zone, then it comes out."
Dear Holt: I suppose it's a totally different ball game if you had scored more runs, too.

Holt is 110% correct. Not sure why you have a problem with what he said.

I think 9497 was thinking that it is easier said than done. That is what so tough about a pitcher that has great movement and commmand and that Purke can also throw pitches out of the zone initially look like there are going to be in the zone. While I am telling you nothing new and you are expert in this area, but even an old HS player can see Purke is something special. That kid has great movement on most of the stuff he throws. He blows away Broadway IMO.

You can't give 110% of anything...
Scotty routinely gave Cptn. Kirk 110% power or even more!!!
