At least they mentioned White was a multi-millionaire lawyer who could afford to leave wherever he wished...and if he wins, my guess it won't be a $2,000 a month two room loft in downtown Austin.

I dont think its outlandish or out of the question that the Governor of our state is entitled to some privileges and luxuries he is after all the Governor.

But where's the line? And again, shouldn't one practice what one preaches?

QUOTE(MO Frogs @ May 18 2010, 12:24 PM) View Post
Would you honestly expect anything less of a democrat or perhaps a Govenator?

Expect? No...I wouldn't expect anything different.

And that's the problem.

Plus....when you preach fiscal responsibility, shouldn't you live by it, too?

QUOTE(MO Frogs @ May 18 2010, 12:24 PM) View Post
I also don’t think that his living expenses have anything to do with the nature or political turmoil in this country and or the Tea Party Movement. Have their been any figures released on what the governor has been being charged or is paying for the temporary residence?

No, it probably doesn't. But it's still disturbing, albeit unsurprising.

And the number published was 600K for 2 years - some of which is obviously unavoidable. But again, does he really NEED 6000 sq ft when he's been living in 2700?

QUOTE(MO Frogs @ May 18 2010, 12:24 PM) View Post
The level of political unrest is at a 30yr high. Im pretty sure that America is far unhappier under the current regime than the previous and this is evident in the level of organization and sophistication of the rebellion
.

Not really what we're talking about, and I'd argue that such an opinion has as much to do with the source of the unhappiness as it does with the relative level.

So what? If he wins and behaves like a bunghole then I'll have the same opinion of him. This ain't about partisan politics....it's about having reasonable expectations for your elected leaders.

You don't understand how hard it was to get an affordable insurance policy after the Brits burned the first one down in 1813. Plus Washington Mutual stuck us with a terrible rate ...

yeah but we didnt have chris dodd around to 'negotiate' our rate for us. if we did, boy we could have a nice rate...

Forgive me for interjecting into a clearly Texas issue since I do not live there....

but out of curiosity how did the governor's mansion get trashed to begin with? Is that because Perry is so full of it that he soiled the mansion due to obvious lack of needed bathrooms, that the mansion then must be rebuilt?

He is an Aggie.

Can't believe that this thread has devolved into 3 pages without anyone mentioning that.

Wasn't it burned down during a lobbyists' barbecue that got out of hand?

I'd much rather say that we burned a few lobbyists at the stake.

Norml, us teabaggers aren't hypocrites and we don't like Perry. Hell, Perry is a former Dem that once helped Gore campaign. I didn't vote for Perry or Hutchinson in the primary but Medina. Medina got torpedoed by Gleen Beck as a 911 truther. While she is not one, she answered poorly in that interview and it cost her.

I honestly don't see much difference betweeen Perry and White. They both on the wrong side of immigration and spending. BUt, the only way I can vote for White is if he will not allow himself to align with Obama and the radicals in DC that want to fundemenatally change the USA. What you have in DC aren't Dems but radicals that have run for office under the Democratic party name and have gained control. If White cannot stand up for Texas and oppose Obama and DC, then we are forced to vote for the dumbutt that is Rick Perry.

That's because you don't invite enough people to your radical moderate meetings.
