That, and baseball is roughly 100x cooler than soccer
See, for me, it is the opposite. Soccer is 100x cooler than baseball (Football, is of course 1,000x cooler). The only reason I am remotely interested in baseball this time of year is because of the Frogs.
USA vs England in the World Cup? May never happen again. TCU vs Texas in the Super Regional? It seems this is becoming an early summer occurrence.

Baseball is a great sport but IMO, it is the perfect sport for recording buecause there is so much downtime you can skip and not miss a thing. The Frogs are gonna roll so I don't think I'm going to miss that much action.
and I WON'T BACK DOWN.

There is NOTHING that even comes close to comparing to the World Cup IMO. Absolute must see TV for me. I also like Twinkies better than cheesecake FWIW.

You ever live overseas, you will know the significance of the World Cup especially against a traditional powerhouse like England. Its intense and when a whole country rallies around a team is especially exciting (ie England - flags flying everywhere, thats all they talk about...imagine the Olympics times about 500)

Completely agree, if this was TCU Football I wouldnt think twice, its football all day. I HATE baseball though so I am like you, I am only interested cause the Frogs are playing. If they weren't playing I wouldnt watch a single pitch of college baseball.

On an intellectual level I do grasp the significance. I lived in Honduras when they were in the '84 WC and the tie with Spain almost closed the entire country with celebrations. I followed the Catrachos as best I could, tried to understand some of the finer points of the game, really tried to become a fan...and came away only slightly less uninterested.
But as someone else posted, not gonna bag on the sport just because it doesn't interest me since quite obviously several millions do find it very enjoyable. Nothing wrong with futbol...I just don't find it at all interesting. I'm sure most of the other folks on this forum don't get a lump in the throat like I do watching a good cutting horse work.
Me, I'm going to listen to the Horned Frogs on KTCU or, if last weekend's link and my Guatemalan ISP are still working, watch on the 'net. I'm not really much of a baseball fan (although the spousal unit is half nuts about it) just a TCU baseball fan.
Oh, and the World Cup is about 500x more interesting to me than the Olympics.

Tiye came to HforH as an estray and has been in foster care/training for about six months. He can be ridden by just about anyone, is smart, friendly, healthy...this 14.3hh gelding is ready to ride, and ready for a real forever home.
The best reason I know for having a tomorrow is the chance there'll be horses there.

Please move this to The Generally Bored. That's where all the soccer hooligans post

Last week's link will NOT work as this series is on ESPN. Try channelsurfing.net or justin.tv for your best shot at finding it.
