Nice discovery.  Of course, today, there would be an Air Education and Training Command seal on the cup  (2 AF is now an AETC numbered AF headquartered at Keesler AFB, MS (Biloxi).

Since I retired, I have discarded box after box of cups, plaques, and other mementos.

All I've kept for my heirs are official documents, decorations, and awards (big retirement gifts like the shadow box w/the US, TX and AF flags flown in my honor).  Didn't want to burden them with having to store a ton of stuff after I croak...or make them feel bad if they opted to toss it.

My younger brother has proclaimed that having to go thru all the stuff in their basement when they are gone will be adequate payback for some of what their sons put them thru when they were younger.

Newf, I'm way more interested in the Portmerion canisters behind the cup! Do you have the whole set of dishes to go with the canisters? That's my pattern, too!

Yeah...there's a store nearby that specializes in Portmerion!

I'm sure an expert like you will notice there are two patterns there.

Yes, I did notice that. Botanic Garden and Variations. One of these days I'm going to have a chance to go to the Portmerion factory in the UK and buy everything I want.

Oh, I should have also said (a) that most of our stuff is the borderless Botanical Garden stuff and (b) yes we do have a lot of it--it is our everyday set of table dishes and also includes numerous pieces like mixing bowls, pie and oval baking pans, soup servers, canisters, etc.

I probably buy 10 pieces a year to replace breakage and/or add to the collection.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but BG has a border on it, too...just not as busy as the other.

It's my everyday stuff also. We don't buy as much as you do. I get it from Mr. P-Dawg and sometimes from his mom for b-day and other gifts. I also find pieces now and then at the Goodwill stores. TJMaxx and Marshall's and those types of discounters sell it, too.
