I'm worried .
We don't have an experienced qurterback . We lost our most productive running backs of the past several sesons .Our most productive o-lineman graduated and went to NFL .Our top safety graduated and went to NFL .Our nose guard graduated .
Our second option at tailback has maybe 5 carries . Our first option at quarterback has maybe 30 pass attempts . We graduated our top receivers . We have to depend on our backups there . Our kickoff man has graduated . Our kicker is limited to 40 yards on field goal range . His holder for field goals has graduated . We lost Ballard at Q-back (our highest winning percentage q-back in forever ,maybe )
They're saying they may play several new recruits also .

Then we open with Baylor and Texas !!!!!

Go FROGS
P.S. We do have Coach Patterson and a good measure of continuity in the coaching staff .
Someday I'd like to be as good a man as my dog already thinks I am

57 Frog relax, we return 21 of 24 on our 2 deep at defense. All the other issues you bring up, we have solid answers for, including quarterback. Our kicker is automatic from 40 and in, there are many D 1 schools that cant say that. The new deep snapper, Grisham, is probably the best we've ever had. Baylor and Texas have many more questions to answer than we do.

PS The staff is less concerned than you are, so feel good about that

I would not be so sure. The concerns about the offense are valid. Defense wins championchips only when the offense can find the endzone on more than a rare occasion.
Baylor is suppose to be in a "rebuilding year", translation, if we dont hang 35 points on the Bears (I would say 50, but it is the 1st game of the season) than we are in deep trouble! Defensively we are sitting pretty, no worries, Offensively, I will hold off any judgement until after the first 2 games. Now for the other schools in the MWC

Predicted Finish

1.TCU
2. BYU
3. New Mexico
4. Wyoming
5. Utah ( depending on how many games Johnson misses)
6.CSU
7. SDSU
8. UNLV
9. AFA

AFA- The Zoomies have a new coach and a new system and almost an entirely new O and D except thier mediocre at best QB Carney. Thier talent level is below any other team in the MWC, but thats because of its unique situation in being a service academy and really cant recruit anyone, but make the most of what they have. Usually it works out halfway decent for them because of De Berry and the Option, but all the ingredients are there to have a diastrous season and will probably finish no better than 8th, and most likely 9th. 2 win season is very realistic, 3 would be considered a sucess.
Biggest MWC game of year- UTAH...Without BJ, AFA could actually steel a win here if they can muster any offense.

BYU- The Cougars have to replace alot of new faces, but thier QB Hall is supposed to be comparable to Beck...will see. Thier D should be good enough to keep the O from having to engage in Shootouts, but the Big ? is can they replace all the key players they lost on O? Even so they are still in the TOP 3 anyway you spin it because thier Talent Level is far better than the Majority of the Conference, but they wont be the Juggernaut they were last year. They are still very much Contenders for the Championship, but a 2nd place finish likely, worst case, 3rd. TCU-UTAH..Utah because it is thier biggest rival and anything can happen in big rivalry games...but TCU-BYU game should decide Conference

CSU- Two words, "has beens" sums up CSU the best. They return alot of players to a team that produced lack-luster performances all year. They do get Kyle Bell back, but that makes them a One Trick Pony considering thier QB Hanie is probably the Worst starting QB in the Conference. Stop the run, and you stop CSU. Thier powerhouse days have long gone and dont see them coming back anytime soon. Sonny Lubick will Probably retire under pressure at years end. They wont/cant fire a man who they named the Field after. But Unless they produce some Miracle year and at the very least go to a bowl, which is doubtful but not totally out of the question, than a new era of CSU football will start next year. Thier O line should be fine, but they have to dramatically improve thier D for any bowl hope to exist. Only hope for a bowl is if TCU gets a BCS slot and opens up a bowl for a 5th MWC team. Biggest MWC Game- WYOMING...after getting shut out last year by the Cowboys, CSU wants revenge and the Gold Plated WWI Army boot of whatever it is those guys play for.

New Mexico- "Dark Horse Contender". The only team behind the top 3 (TCU, BYU, Utah) that even has a chance to be the Conference Champion. They return a vast majority of Starters on O and D. Thier QB (Poterie?) came in last season as a fresman and yanked them out of what was looking to be a diastorous season. With the absence of Johnson (Utah), he is the best QB in the League (atleast with any proven ability..heard something about him being a Frosh All American but I can only say that is a rumor, have not researched it) and thier RB and WR's are all in the top 3. The Offense has the weapons and capability to be sucessful, but the trend is very much against them. They have a new Offensive Coordinator for good or bad....Bob Toledo's Offense never seemed to work well for them. Thier D is the Big ? Last year they were Medicore at best, but very young. Can the same people, a year older and 10 lbs heavier make a drastic improvement? Another will see, but a Bowl game (and loss) is likely as well as a top 3 finish ( thanks to Utah's injury situation) if the D solidifies itself. A MWC Championship will probably be just out of reach but not out of the question. Biggest MWC Game- BYU..The Lobos (hell along with everyone else except Utah) were anihilated by the Cougs last year and The Lobo's just might have it in them to pull off the Upset.

UNLV- The Rebels had to come from behind and rally to beat Utah St....enough said! First game or not, that just shows that the talent level is still underachieving and nothing has changed in Vegas. They have the Talent to move into the 2nd tear but always seem to stumble up the basement stairs. Stanford will be on the Hotseat this year if things dont dramatically improve. They dont have the talent or drive to compete for the Championship, but they do have the capability to shock someone and alter the race if they play to thier potential. Mostlikely a bottom tear finish and no Bowl and probably a new coach if they are not competive in the majority of games. anything less than 4 wins and kiss Stanford goodbye. PS- QB Hinds is way overrated. Biggest MWC Game- Utah...if ever thier was a chance for UNLV to beat the Utes in football, this is it...kick them while thier down and enjoy it while it last! Plus Sanford use to be the Off Coord at Utah under Urban Meyer.

SDSU- Should be much improved this year and more competitive. A Bowl game is probably out of reach but they do have a decent shot of moving out of the basement if they can stay healthy. O and D will be competitive enough to crank out some wins here and their against lesser teams but still not be able to win any of the big ones. Not alot is expected of them so a 2 win, 7th place MWC finish will be considered adequate, but could finish as high as 5th with a little luck. They are just counting the days until Basketball season. Biggest MWC game- Utah...shoot the lame duck now because next year..and every year after that it will grow fangs and eat you alive. SDSU would love a win from the Utes, they dont come very often for them.

Utah- Before last night I would have put them in 2nd place. But after Losing Jonson and Asiata, things change dramatically! That was basically thier entire offense. The New QB does not fit thier system and really did not seem to be much of a QB at all. He has seen playing time last year so it was not exactly like it was the first game he has ever played. Thier D is ok, but not as good as last years and thier O is going to struggle mightily until BJ's return. And even then, will he be 100%? Runing the Option is hard on a QB and once they get hurt, they are proned to injury it seems, so even with his return he will probably not be the same. And dont forget Asiata is out for the whole year. What looked to be an optimistic year and possible championship and almost guarnteed Bowl game at the very least, has turned into a year the Utes will have to fight and claw just to make it to a bowl. MWC Biggest Game-BYU. Even if the Utes were Winless going into this game (Im not saying they will be, and in all likely hood they wont, just saying if..) and BYU was undefeated...it would still probably be a hell of a game.

Wyoming- The Utes misfortune will probably benefit Wyoming the most via taking thier bowl slot. The Cowboys went from a basement team to a very good 2nd tear team under Joe Glenn. Thier QB Sween is one of the better veteran tested QB's in the League and although thier D is probably one of the worst, they do have just enough Offensive weapons to overcome and outscore enough teams to get to bowl eligibility. Does not have the Talent to Compete for the championship, but should be taken very seriously by ALL MWC teams and is capable of a few upsets. MWC Biggest Game- New Mexico...even though the Pokes beat the Lobo's last year, they Blame them for "Taking OUR Bowl Bid"

You actually think that our D is one of the worst? Are you slow? I am not going to bash your team, because I think TCU does have the best D overall, but our D is playing ridiculously well. Virginia gained 7 yards on the ground. Look at our 3rd down conversion rate on D, I don't know the total after the Ohio game, but we had to that point held teams to 3 of 49 attempts. You need to worry about our D, as I am very worried about yours. Especially te way Sween has fallen apart the last two weeks. I suggest you guys focus on Devin Moore, he is a superstar. 4.3 speed and BIG time moves. He singlehandedly won the game this week for us. Anyway, good luck against the Sheep, I hope you pummel them into submission. We hate the Sheep.. :) Also, please invite some frog fans to WYONATION.com for some god smack talk. Later..
