With signing day February 3 fast approaching and just a few spots left to fill, recruiting has taken a different course this year.  Fewer visitors for the class of 2010 coming in but more impotance placed on the visits.  Also with Fiesta bowl preparation under full swing it gives the recruits a more in-depth look at the TCU staff and players.

There are 4 or 5 spots left and it is expected that one will be a LBer and another a DL (or two).  Getting athletes who can play WR or DB positions will probably be the emphasis on the final spots and here are a few of the names visiting the next few weeks:

ATH Curtis Carter 5-11/175/4.3 Stonewall, LA (North DeSoto) 41″ vert recent de-commit from Nebraska, plays QB but recruited as WR.

ATH Danny Spond 6-3/225/4.65 Littleton, CO (Columbine) has the size to line up anywhere from LB, S or even DE,  plays QB on offense on a team that doesn’t throw the ball much. Plays linebacker on defense which could end up being his spot in college. Has great size and can really run for a kid this big. Closes on the ball well and will tackle with authority.

QB Milton Howell 6-2/190/4.5 Navarro College.  Very athletic QB out of Houston who had to sit most of 2009 with a foot injury.

WR Chris Hawkins 6-2/175/4.4 Channelview, TX averaged over 40 yards per reception as a junior and has ha a good senior year.  Currently committed to Minnesota.

ATH Jonathan Anderson 6-2/201/4.6 Corpus Christi, TX (Carroll) safety prospect but can move to OLB, explosive hitter.  Should comit if things work well this weekend.-update: becomes commit #12 for 2010

Some of those who have already visited this month include DE LaCraig Brown, big DT prospect Eric Humphrey, 2010 commit Sam Carter as well as recent commits Josh Huff and Ethan Grant.

Will continue to update as news comes out.

No question we have seen Andy Dalton, AD, grow as a player over the past few years and there has been a definite increase in productivity , but it is really amazing to see the jump he has made from 2007 to 2008 and especially 2008 to 2009.

As a freshman in 13 games he threw 371 times completing 222 or 59.8% with 11 picks, 11 TDs and 2,459 yards or 189.2 per game and a 118.8 efficiency rating, #83 in the country. He ran 98 tmes for a net 232 yards, 2.4 per carry 5 TDs and a 17.8 avg per game. TCU finished 8-5.

As soph he made improvement across the board, in 11 games (he missed 2) he threw 307 passes completing 182 for 59.3% with 5 picks, 11 TDs and 2,242 yards or 203.8 yards per game and an efficiency rating of 129.2, #50 in the country. He ran 113 times for 432 net yards, 3.8 per carry, 8 TDs and a 39.3 average per game. TCU was 11-2, 9-2 under AD.

The big improvement has come this season. As a junior in 12 games so far he has thrown 279 times and completed 174 or 62.4% with 5 picks, 22 TDs and 2,484 yards or 207.0 per game and an efficiency rating of 159.59, #4 in the country. He ran 107 times for 522 yards, 4.9 per carry with 3 TDs and and avg of 43.5 per game. TCU so far is 12-0.

He efficiency rating has gone from 118.8 to 159.89 and his ranking has gone from #83 to the 4th best passer in the country over the years.

Congrats to Andy Dalton for having all that hard work pay off for himself and the team. He has made himself in to a legit Heisman candidate for next year and a definite pro prospect. It is going to be fun watchig his continued development.
