Cole Frederick 6-1/200/4.65 Houston Christian High School:
Cole transferred to Houston Christian right as two a days started in August of his senior year and split time with the returning starter before finally winning taking over the position midway through the season. He finished the year throwing for 1,414 yards and 14 TDs completing 71 of 140 pass attempts. He also ran for 2 more TDs as a QB and returned an interception for a touchdown while playing linebacker. “Our team made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs before losing to Northland Christian” he stated in an email.
After the season he had some recruiters talk to him “but coming from a small school and playing there for only a year while receiving little publicity I only had offers from small schools out of state and division 3 schools in Texas”. His head coach at Houston Christian, Mike Johnston was a former coach at Katy High School and won 3 state championships as the Tiger’s head coach. Coach Johnson is very familiar with the TCU coaches and contacted Eddie Williamson about Cole. He said Coach Johnson took him up to TCU to talk to the staff about their quarterback situation and walking on at the school . Cole finished up saying ”the coaches showed us around and were very nice. Coach Schultz told me that it was a great time to walk on as a QB, considering that one was not signed in the 2007 class. After seeing the campus, the facilities, and the rest of Fort Worth, I decided that it was the place for me.” He will attend summer school and work out with the other freshmen recruits. “I am looking forward to it to say the least.”
Welcome aboard Cole Frederick
